Computer can be hacked by opening a RTF in Word Outlook File

" A dangerous bug has been disclosed in Microsoft office enterprises" According to Redmond, a premier security agency, Microsoft Word 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 as well as Office for Mac 2011 are all vulnerable to this " newly discovered security hole." Basically, this vulnerability is exploited by opening a maliciously crafted .RTF file in MS Word processor or by opening it via Outlook. Once opened, it allows the attacker to execute "arbitrary code" on the targeted machine. Consequently, it will give the attacker the same privileges as that of the logged on user on the target computer. Uptil now, Microsoft could not have been able to come up with a security patch. However, it has adviced user to refrain from opening .RTF files in Microsoft Word. Besides, Microsoft has also warned users to be careful in handling email attachments. As the hacker could send them an email containing poisoned .rtf file. Also, Microsoft has vowed to release the solution to this bug in its next monthly security update.
